Postcards FOR my friends

We all know about the Postcards for Kelly project but this one is about You receiving the postcard.
I spent a few hours this afternoon helping a friend with some social media for his photography and despite my protests that all I required was a coffee or two he kindly let me pick out a dozen of his cards – all photos he has taken himself.
So to share the love I have some quintessential Tasmanian pictures for you.

If any of my bloggy friends would like a card, drop me an email with your address and it shall be sent.

Not to play favourites but I picked one especially for the Professor (and Chris). The first nine readers thereafter to reply will get one. Of course if the Professor doesn’t reply, then someone else will get it.

For the ten who get one I will post here when they have been sent.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Easy Thai-flavoured Chicken mince

I had some chicken mince defrosting and wanted to try something other than burgers for dinner. We had all been eating too much bread so something a little lighter was in order.
I took a search on my favourite cooking site (www.taste.com.au) for an easy meal that required no trip to the supermarket.

With the rice – just plain old rice, not the jasmine variety – in cooking, the rest only took 15 mins. So if you really wanted a quick meal then this would be perfect. So long as the meat didn’t need defrosting.
Our chicken mince comes in 300g packs so I halved the recipe, and used parsley I stead of coriander that had been used up a few days ago. It was a little bland, even for hubby, but I think if I had had coriander it would have added the right amount of spice to jazz it up. I chucked in a few frozen veg as I don’t keep Chinese veges in my fridge, but broccolini would be alright too I think.
Either way, when I make it again, I will use the full amount of sauce and definitely use coriander.

It gets 5 stars from me, as it was easy, quick, and should you use everything that the recipe states then it would be a brilliant meal.

You’ll find the full recipe on my Recipe page under savouries.

Sauces mixed ready to add.

Enjoy your New Years Eve.

Brown the chicken.

Plated up, and I added a nice extra dollop of chili sauce to mine.

Well. That’s that then I spose.

So, I sent another email to Vista stating that I was going to close my website, and asking about my blog.
The response. Over the 24 hrs they told me – but within 48 – I got an email with a stock standard reply. Not even a “sorry, can we do anything to make you stay” or anything that vaguely resembles something personal. And it looks like I’ll have to cut and paste all my blog posts. The pictures will have to stay unfortunately. After all, they are lurking in the depths of the laptop or external hard drive somewhere. I rarely delete much, well I do, but if it’s been published, then it hasn’t been deleted. Looks like I have some work to do the next few evenings – bah! Boring.

I have adjusted the old website and removed all the pages so now it is a home page with the new address on it. This will stay until I’m done with the blog posts.

My email to Vista and their reply is below. Thanks very much. Not.

Hi, I sent an email last week regarding my blog and getting all the posts transferred to my new blog address (or directly to me to use) but have not had a reply. I have started my website with another host and would like to take my blog entries with me, rather than lose them when I cancel this subscription. Is there a way I can transfer my posts while keeping the pictures intact without the hassle that cut and paste requires. I look forward to your reply. Jennifer.”

That’s all they had. Really disappointed in them. I will continue to buy my cards from them, after all there has never been a problem with those.

My day started well, and even after that, still going well. I had my pamper session. Oh the bliss, of someone else washing your hair and getting a head massage with it. With pleasure there is always some pain, and I got that as well, damn stingy eyes. Oh, the price we pay for vanity… I now have the afternoon stretching out ahead of me with only one thing to do before picking up son #2 from the bus stop.

Have a great day and don’t forget to compliment & pamper the ones you love 🙂

Damned website hosts!

A week or more ago I posted about some fact that I would be re blogging post from my other blog over at Vista.
I tried to do this several times, which didn’t work out too well, and in between found another website to sell from (i was having issues with my current one).
The short version is that I have a new website and before I cancel the old one I want to gather up all my blog posts into a nice little bundle and relocate them here. Sounds easy. It probably is. But it’s me you’re talking to, so nothing is ever that easy.

Cut and paste is a pain, and to include all the pictures would mean more headaches than I want to deal with (considering my latest technological frustrations) so I emailed them as asked what they could do for me. Now they are usually very good at replying, within 48 hours, but I have heard absolutely nothing from them.

This only serves to add more fuel to the reasons why I want to leave them. Distinct lack of communication. To show the difference here, I had a small problem on the new site, and within 48 hours, even with time zone differences, the problem was solved and I am happy. Vista have never been that good. Average at best. And the sooner I cancel my site the quicker I can buy that domain name and save a few dollars on the site itself.

I shall try them again, I really don’t want to lose all the gems of weird posts that I was writing.

Hoping your day is going better than mine, although I did get to sleep in.

Jennifer 🙂
