It is one of those crappy weather days, misty horrible rain that makes it annoying to be outside. Not cold, just yucky. So I took the opportunity to watch a show I recorded last night. And to chill for a bit. Well one hour turned into 2.5 as the end of Masterchef followed and then Dr Phil. I am not one to just watch tele, I have very few shows I watch and was not really paying attention, but the theme caught my eye. Lying Teens. Ok, let’s check this out.
You don’t need to know what happened on the show but at the very end, he mentioned a quiz to see how well you now your teen. My eldest was in the room and got all excited and said ‘look it up, let’s do it!’
Ok then. Feeling a little apprehensive. You never know if you want to know what they’re thinking or you if have absolutely no idea. A good chance to gain some honestly and trust (if lacking) and work on your communication.
The quiz says the questions can be answered as yes or no, but then the bottom says ‘if you answered yes or no…’ Haha, they are not phrased to be answered yes or no. I “quizzed” both my teenagers, the nine yr old can wait a bit I think, and then got them to ask the same questions of me. Essentially they me well enough, even with 16yr old brain answers peppering most of the questions…
Lets say I know my teens well enough, and am pretty happy with the result. They still talk to me after all!
The quiz is below, how well do you know your teen?
Dr Phill Teen Quiz
A week or more ago I posted about some fact that I would be re blogging post from my other blog over at Vista.
I tried to do this several times, which didn’t work out too well, and in between found another website to sell from (i was having issues with my current one).
The short version is that I have a new website and before I cancel the old one I want to gather up all my blog posts into a nice little bundle and relocate them here. Sounds easy. It probably is. But it’s me you’re talking to, so nothing is ever that easy.
Cut and paste is a pain, and to include all the pictures would mean more headaches than I want to deal with (considering my latest technological frustrations) so I emailed them as asked what they could do for me. Now they are usually very good at replying, within 48 hours, but I have heard absolutely nothing from them.
This only serves to add more fuel to the reasons why I want to leave them. Distinct lack of communication. To show the difference here, I had a small problem on the new site, and within 48 hours, even with time zone differences, the problem was solved and I am happy. Vista have never been that good. Average at best. And the sooner I cancel my site the quicker I can buy that domain name and save a few dollars on the site itself.
I shall try them again, I really don’t want to lose all the
gems of weird posts that I was writing.
Hoping your day is going better than mine, although I did get to sleep in.
– the way the dog is always so excited to see us
(man! mind blank! how hard is it to find things I like. Of course there are lots of wonderful things I am grateful for, that I love…. but can I think of any of them now. Nup. Zip, nada, nothing. Aside from the obvious that we are all healthy and essentially happy…. oh, wait there, this one’s a must to add in
– that people check out my blog and decide there’s something worth reading and they want more (LOVE you all)
Most of all, what I wanted to say was that
I Love that our teenage kids still want to talk to us! and we can laugh and joke around.
They’re even not embarrassed to wave or call out if they see us at school, even with their friends around.
It’s times like these I think we’re doing something right, and we’re not totally boring old parents who are out of touch.
Smiling as always 😀
